Update Earth: Kids “Rock the World” for the Environment
A Musical Review by Roger Emerson Presented by the 7th Grade English Classes at the Izmir SEV Elementary School on Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 in the amphitheater Today it is more important than ever to spread the word on how to protect our environment. That is exactly what the 7th graders at the Izmir SEV Elementary School did on Tuesday, April 27th, 2010. Under the direction of Crystal Stang and Evelyn Sebik, more that 70 students participated in the musical presentation of Update Earth: Kids “Rock the World” for the Environment. As an Eco-School, Izmir SEV aims to educate its students, parents, and local community on the importance of respecting the Earth. This musical review by Roger Emerson brings to light our ongoing quest to better the world’s environment. It addresses issues such as global warming, alternative energy sources, reducing, reusing and recycling. The educational songs raise awareness on these issues and encourage everyone to do their part; that every little bit helps. This musical was a fantastic way to culminate the “Going Green” theme students worked on during the second semester. During this two module study, students considered natural wonders of the world, humanity’s impact on the environment and on animals in the wild, ways of “Going Green” and the concept of Fair Trade. The timing of the performance could not have been any better since Earth Day celebrated its 40th year on April 22nd, 2010. Evelyn Sebik English Teacher Izmir SEV Elementary School April 27th, 2010 |
